Sustainable Beauty: The Recycled Difference
What makes this project truly distinct is its heart. In an era where sustainability is paramount, this entire installation was crafted using 100% recycled glass. Sourcing discarded red glass and breathing new life into it requires a level of patience and artistry that goes beyond standard stained glass work.
The recycled material offers a texture that factory-fresh sheets simply cannot mimic. There are slight undulations, tiny bubbles, and variations in the crimson density that make the petals look almost velvety when the Ubud sun streams through them in the late afternoon.
A Design for a Natural Sanctuary
The design focuses on large, sweeping floral motifs typical of the tropical environment. Standing at a majestic 1.5 meters tall, the panel acts not just as a window, but as a glowing canvas. The family requested a design that felt "rooted," so we utilized deep amber and merlot tones at the base, rising into brilliant ruby and vermilion highlights at the top.
Working with this lovely family was a joy. They understood that art in a natural villa shouldn't compete with the jungle outside, but rather harmonize with it. The red of the flowers provides a stunning complementary contrast to the overwhelming green of the Ubud forest visible through the open-air architecture.
