The Serenity of Amed: A Yoga Minimalist Masterpiece | Era Glass Bali

The Serenity of Amed: Crafting Light for a Yoga Sanctuary

Project: Villa Tranquilla | Location: Amed, Karangasem, Bali | Style: Minimalist Traditional

At Era Glass Bali, we believe that stained glass is more than just decoration—it is the art of capturing the soul of a space. Our recent commission took us to the tranquil eastern coast of Bali, where the sunrise paints the sky over Amed.

We were honored to work with Mr. and Mrs. Deni, a lovely couple from the UK who have built their dream sanctuary in the heart of Karangasem. Their vision was clear yet challenging: they desired a piece that embodied the stillness of yoga minimalism while paying homage to the rich, intricate roots of traditional Balinese design.

A Fusion of Two Worlds

The villa, nestled between the majestic Mount Agung and the calm waters of the Bali Sea, demanded a design that did not compete with the view but enhanced it. Mr. and Mrs. Deni practiced yoga daily and wanted the stained glass to serve as a focal point for their meditation space.

To achieve this "Mixed Design," we stripped back the color palette to soothing ambers, soft textures of clear cathedral glass, and subtle greens.

"We wanted the glass to breathe. It had to feel modern and open, like a yoga breath, but grounded in the soil of Bali."

The Minimalist Core

For the center of the panel, we utilized a Yoga Minimalist approach. We avoided heavy, cluttered lead lines. Instead, we used sweeping, elegant curves representing the Lotus—a symbol of purity and rebirth. The glass chosen here was highly translucent, allowing the natural Amed sunlight to flood the room, casting gentle, moving shadows across the floor during their morning practice.

The Traditional Frame

To honor the location, the minimalist core was framed by a border of Traditional Balinese motifs. We incorporated stylized Patra floral patterns, simplified to match the modern aesthetic. This outer ring acts as a spiritual boundary, protecting the serenity within.

Light That Tells a Story

The installation process in Amed was a journey in itself. Seeing the glass set into the villa’s architecture, with the tropical garden visible through the clear textures, was a breathtaking moment for both our team and the Denis.

This project stands as a testament to the versatility of stained glass. It proves that the ancient craft can be perfectly adapted to modern, mindful living spaces. We thank Mr. and Mrs. Deni for trusting Era Glass Bali to bring their vision of peace and tradition to life.
